Project and Portfolio Management
SMS delivers project and program management services to support our clients’ mission and ensure that all contract requirements are met. Our management staff oversees day-to-day activities of our contractor staff in locations across the country and maintains an open line of communication between clients and employees.
We provide on-site project management at various work locations and supervise, direct and coordinate the activities and schedules of team leads and other operational support staff across all labor categories. Our management team develops quality and performance goals for assigned staff and monitors staff-level performance. Each of our project managers maintains contract staff production and productivity standards, adheres to Standard Operating Procedures, and complies with performance expectations established by our clients. In addition to on-site supervision, SMS project managers implement daily processes for preparing and reviewing all production and performance reports, identifying areas of deficiency or inefficiency and offering solutions in compliance with client goals and policies.
Portfolio Management Operations (PMO). The SMS team has developed a systemic approach in developing the functions and processes associated with portfolio management. This requirement focuses on developing PMOs for various clients. SMS develops a charger for starting the PMO and keeps current documentation associated with project policies, procedures, templates and other associated documentation which will be maintained on a Government SharePoint site. In addition, we use industry best practices to research, identify, and develop project management methodologies. We also provide administrative support to the Government Program Managers managing the projects within their portfolio. We provide centralized support for managing changes, tracking issues, and identifying risks and issues.
Portfolio Management. We provide subject matter expertise to the Government in portfolio management-related processes, procedures, and protocols in order to promote a common understanding and application of the process. We accomplish this in the areas of Strategic Alignment, Governance, Portfolio Performance, and Communications Management.
